The Voice is one of the most popular singing competitions on television aside from American Idol. I think one of the best aspects of the show is the camaraderie between the coaches and the close one-on-one time they spend with the competitors they recruit onto their team. It provides humor, great music, and anticipation as to if one of your favorites will survive eliminations.

Although the majority of the coaches on the show tend to excel our expectations, there are also those particular celebrities that continue to disappoint.

The celebrities that have been featured as coaches from the show's inception up until now are as follows:

  • Blake Shelton
  • Adam Levine
  • Shakira
  • Usher
  • CeeLo Green
  • Christina Aguilera

The following content will consist of the ranking of the coaches from the best to the worst (1 being the best, and 6 being the worst).

#1. Blake Shelton

You cannot get a more likeable coach than Blake Shelton. The Grammy award winning country artist has been a coach on The Voice since the show's beginnings, and continues to be a fan favorite. With that southern accent and loveable redneck quirks, he provides laughter to the show, especially between fellow judge, Adam Levine. How can we forget the pranks from season 6? Giving out Adam Levine's cell phone number... 'Miley Cyrus' jabs in response to Adam's bleach blond look.... priceless.

Overall, Shelton is that "BFF" coach. He always features acclaimed country mentors for his team, and most importantly, he fosters the potential talent that his team can have for country music. His relationship with the contestants on his team feels authentic and true. He is definitely the coach you would most likely want to have a beer with.

#2. Adam Levine

Incredibly hot and talented, Adam Levine consistently chooses contestants that have a variety of genres they provide for the competition. During the latest season, Adam's team consisted of my favorite contestants including Christina Grimmie, Delvin Choice, and Kat Perkins. He was a great coach in that he provided honest feedback, encouraged his team to take risks, and allowed their true talents to shine all on their own.

The only downside to Levine on the voice is that he has been a bit of a diva lately. From his passive aggressive way of trying to tell the crowd to "shut up" so he can talk, to getting his briefs in a twist whenever Blake Shelton pulls pranks that go to far, he has been a bit of a buzz-kill lately.

However, I think Adam is an extremely supportive coach to the contestants on his team. He is always very vocal about how talented the individuals on his team are, and gives good reasons to keep those certain contestants on his team.

#3. Usher

'The Voice' Usher Exclusive

Usher entered The Voice during season 4 along with Shakira (replacing CeeLo and Christina). His musical niche is to foster talent in the contestants that are aspiring to succeed in the R&B, Hip/Hop, and Soul genres. Usher's style is cool and laid back compared to CeeLo's bizarre fashion choices, and his performance on live television is extraordinarily effortless.

As a coach, Usher can be harsh and extremely hard on the contestants on his team, but he is consistently honest. He puts as much of an effort into his team of contestants as he expects them to put into the competition. He, along with Shakira, were able to boost the ratings of the show, and have better chemistry with each other and with Blake and Adam. Important to note, Usher won this past season with soul artist, Josh Kaufman.

#4. Shakira

'The Voice' Shakira Exclusive

Shakira entered the show during it's fourth season (along with fellow cast mate, Usher). The new editions caused a ratings spike, but some questioned whether or not Shakira would shine as a coach in terms of natural charm on camera as well as the chemistry with fellow coaches. One disadvantage that Shakira has dealt with on the show is finding a proper niche. Adam Levine specializes in the rock/alternative genre, Usher is the expert in R&B and soul, Christina Aguilera is the pop diva, and Blake Shelton is the expert in all things country.

Although there are not many Latin singers that compete on The Voice, Shakira has managed to go far with singers with fierce vibratos. I think Shakira shined the most as a coach was during this past season when she took contestant and country-aspiring artist,Kristen Merlin, to the final four (where she was eliminated before the finale).

Shakira's appeal on the show comes from her saucy fashion choices, her easy charm, and her the authentic chemistry she shares with her fellow coaches (Adam, Blake, and Usher). She always provides sassy comebacks, and you cannot help but love her Colombian accent. Shakira is a lot more welcoming and gentler of a diva than Christina. She provides warmth, smiles, and support for the competitors; she also has the ability to 'let people down easy,' compared to the other stars on the show.

Unfortunately, she will not be returning to The Voice due to her hectic schedule and desire to spend time with her husband and son, Milan.

#5. Christina Aguilera

Xtina on 'The Voice'

There is no denying that Xtina is one of the most talented singers, especially in terms of her strong vocal range. However, just because she is incredibly talented does not mean she was a good coach on The Voice.

My personal opinion of her persona on the show is that she has an overblown ego, and is the epitome of diva queen. She never truly seemed to be an authentic, real, person--- even between her fellow coaches. Although she was one of the original O.G.'s, I think the camradderie between her, CeeLo, Adam, and Blake was lacking. Her attempts to be funny seemed staged and fake, and her personality on the show was a little stuck up mixed with I-am-too-good-for-this-sh*t.

She also had incredibly high, unobtainable standards for the contestants she recruited to be on her team. She would shoot out her impeccable high notes, and would expect her team to be able to reach those---- which is near impossible. Overall, she never seemed to connect to the other contestants, and did not seem to be as supportive of her team in comparison to the other coaches.

Aside from her musical talent, she had great fashion on the show.

#6. CeeLo Green

It is no surprise that CeeLo always showed up in style. From his bizarre Michael Jackson-esque jacket to his return in Season 5 with a head tattoo, CeeLo is the only male coach that goes all out when he appeared on the set.

CeeLo was one of the first coaches to truly move outside of the box to secure uniquely talented contestants. In my own personal opinion, I never connected to him as a coach on The Voice. Although he is a talented artist, he was not necessarily a crowd pleaser aside from his fashion statements. Plus, it was a bit uncomfortable to watch him hit on young, female, contestants during the Blinds.
